Economy:  Advanced development is significantly localized around four areas: Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban, and Pretoria/Johannesburg. Beyond these four economic centers, development is marginal and poverty is still prevalent despite government efforts. Consequently the vast majority of South Africans are poor. However, key marginal areas have experienced rapid growth recently.

Climate:  South Africa has a generally temperate climate, due in part to being surrounded by the Atlantic and Indian Oceans on three sides. The interior of South Africa is a vast, flat, and sparsely populated scrubland, the Karoo, which is drier towards the northwest along the Namib Desert. In contrast, the eastern coastline is lush and well-watered, which produces a climate similar to the tropics.

Religion:  The major religion in South Africa is Christian

Kruger National Park
The Kruger National Park is the largest game reserve on the continent and one the main tourist attractions in South Africa. The park boasts more species of mammals than any other African game reserve which includes the Big Five, cheetahs, giraffes and more. Useful Tips: Gift giving is not the norm in business. Dress well in public, it will be expected by your South African host. South Africans love success stories and many admire Americans. Use titles and surnames to address people.

Credit Cards: Throughout Africa, cards with the Visa logo are most readily recognised, although MasterCard is also accepted in many places. Whatever card you use, don't rely totally on plastic, as computer or telephone breakdowns can leave you stranded. Always have cash or travellers cheques too.
